The Halloween Candle is a limited-time item in 99 Nights in the Forest, mainly used for the Trick or Treating event during Halloween. You will need these candles to light up NPC houses at night, triggering either a “treat” with rewards or a “trick” that plays a funny prank. If you’re wondering how to gather these candles, here’s a guide on every available method, plus tips for farming and using them effectively.
One of the most common ways to get Halloween Candles is by opening chests scattered throughout the map. Almost every chest type has a chance of dropping a candle, though the odds are fairly low. Explore different biomes and structures, open all chests you come across, and you’ll gradually build up a small stockpile. It’s a passive way to farm while collecting weapons, food, or armor.

Cultists are an enemy type strongly tied to Halloween Candle drops. You can earn candles by defeating individual Cultists or completing full Cultist Raids. These raids occur when Cultists attack your campfire, and finishing the entire raid increases your odds of receiving multiple candles as loot. If you’re already completing raids for gear, this is a good way to farm candles at the same time.

The Cultist Stronghold is considered the best method for farming Halloween Candles. It’s a multi-floor dungeon filled with Cultists and high-level enemies, and clearing it can reward many candles per run. After you complete the stronghold, you can go back to it after a cooldown period to farm again. It’s the best way to gather large quantities of candles in one go, especially for advanced players or groups.
Classes like Cyborg with its Laser Cannon are highly effective for fast clearing. Good weapons such as the Infernal Sword, Obsidiron Hammer, or Laser Cannon will drastically improve your farming rate.
Armor sets like Obsidiron or accessories like Frog Boots help you survive longer during stronghold runs or raids.
The Volcanic Biome tends to spawn more Cultists, making it a good choice for candle farming.
The Cultist Stronghold can be repeated after a short cooldown (about 20 minutes), allowing steady farming over time. While exploring and doing raids, open every chest you find. It’s a small but reliable addition to your total.
After gathering enough candles, you can start Trick or Treating during the nighttime cycle.
